Proposed Constitution
Proposal to be discussed at the Paris meeting 2 June 2007:
International Waldorf Parents Network (IWPN)
IWPN is a forum for the exchange of ideas concerning Waldorf education, and parenthood. We encourage parents sincerely interested in Waldorf pedagogy to participate. Our core activity is located on the website at www.waldorfparents.net.
The founding principles of IWPN:
- IWPN supports the idea that parents have a right to choose education for their children, and that education is a spiritual working, where freedom is a high ideal as well as a human right!
- IWPN supports the view that the free choice of education also implies that economical conditions must be equal for different educational systems.
- IWPN supports the living and evolving pedagogical impulse based on Rudolf Steiner’s ideas.
- IWPN supports the understanding that children’s education relies on solid cooperation between parents and teachers. Ideally this cooperation should be based on Rudolf Steiner’s approach to the principles of three folding in the society; liberty, equality and brotherhood.
Decision-making and administration:
All parents with children currently in a Waldorf school may participate in decisions made in the IWPN meetings arranged by the IWPN Administration.
The burden of the general administration of IWPN will be shared by members of the national or regional associations of Waldorf parents.
Possible decisions are made by formal consensus, as described by C. T. Butler and Amy Rothstein, at www.consensus.net.
IWPN Administration contact:
The administration can be reached at this e-mail address: adm@waldorfparents.net.
"Our highest endeavour must be to develop free human beings who are able themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives."
